My work at GGWash has some similarities to how I approach being a parent. I love what I do, and I have faith in it: it would be impossible to bring the energy and joy needed to these demanding roles without that love. Whether I know you personally or not, if you’re seeing this email, I know that you also love our region and want it to be the best version of itself that it can be.
Communities can be fun and full of opportunity. But like kids, they need a few basics, and those basics can’t be skimmed over without consequences. Cities, especially, need housing for all who want to live here, and they need to be super easy to get around without a car–otherwise, they aren’t easy to get around for anyone else. That’s the vision we’re working toward every day for the region.
You have a crucial part to play–in your own neighborhood or jurisdiction, but also in supporting us. Much of our work, like the blog which I oversee, or political endorsements, or the institutional work that keeps us a healthy, functional organism, isn’t covered by grants.
