Hi John,

I am sure that you have been getting many requests from campaigns, asking you to contribute a few dollars to help them for their end-of-month deadline. I’ll admit, this is one of those emails, too.

But, before I ask for your help, if you’ll give me a moment, I’d like to acknowledge and thank a few of the people who have generously contributed to our grassroots campaign this week:

Running for Congress isn’t easy. Asking you for help, for your time, and for your hard-earned money isn’t easy. As such, it’s so important to me that you know how grateful I am for your support and generosity. People like Marie, John, and William help us make our campaign possible.

People are tired of the same politics as usual, and in 2018, we succeeded because we did things differently! We turned to real people, real families, and real grassroots supporters. I listened to people’s concerns. My team worked hard to build a tremendous network of supporters, and people like you were willing to believe in us, work with us, and help us win.

Now I am working hard in Washington, and I am proud of my efforts, my work on behalf of people across Virginia, and my voting record. I refuse to play political games with issues that matter to Central Virginia families, like protecting access to health care, ending the culture of corruption in Washington, and improving our local economy. No matter how hard or challenging, I am going to continue working and fighting to make a difference.

I want to maintain your trust and your support, John. That’s why I don’t take asking you for a contribution lightly. I hope that you will consider contributing toward our end-of-month fundraising goal tonight. We’ll only be able to reach our goal with the support of folks like you. >>
