John,

When it comes to the holiday season, I think about wreaths --- not as spectacular as some of the magnificent trees or beautiful menorahs that mark Christmas and Hanukkah, but in some ways more significant.

Long before my parents could afford a Christmas tree, they bought a plastic wreath that held a candle to welcome the holiday season as well as to remember past ancestors. In my travels, I have looked for wreaths that speak to the memories of each who has passed. None adequately does.

Unexpectedly, I was taken by two wreaths for their simplicity --- respect and honor in remembrance of loved ones, with peace and light to those who have left us and to those they leave behind.

Here's to peace, light, and hope to all in this season and beyond. That we may be a part of helping others heal. That our time together can be a blessing, where we can honor our past, and continue building towards a brighter future.

May we seek to feed our hearts, spirits, and minds this holiday season, regardless of how or if you celebrate.

John, let’s commit to be each other’s warmth for these next days, to get us into a brighter 2026. Stronger. Together.

Chag Sameach. Merry Christmas. Happy Kwanzaa.

Betty
