The Claremont Institute

Merry Christmas from Claremont!

Dear John,

On behalf of The Claremont Institute, I wish you a Merry Christmas as we gather with our families to celebrate this sacred season.

The birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem marked a turning point in human history. From His life and teachings grew a Christian moral tradition that shaped the West and helped form the moral foundations of our nation. This season reminds us of civilizational inheritance—one rooted in gratitude, purpose and hope.

When President Ulysses S. Grant sought to reunify a divided nation after the Civil War, he made Christmas a federal holiday for the first time. He understood that national observances are more than dates on a calendar. They bind us to one another and to the moral and cultural traditions that sustain the American experiment.

At Claremont, we work to preserve that inheritance by teaching the principles that have guided generations toward ordered liberty and self-government. Your support makes that work possible, and we remain deeply grateful for your partnership.

This Christmas, I pray that you enjoy a blessed and peaceful holiday with those you love, as we celebrate our Savior’s birth and the generosity He first showed to us.

With warm wishes,

Ryan P. Williams

President, The Claremont Institute
