Serving Pennsylvania's 2nd District

Friend,

There is now a bipartisan majority in the House of Representatives ready to force a vote extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits that help millions of Americans afford health care. I joined the bipartisan petition to force a vote and called on Speaker Johnson to immediately bring the proposal to a vote. With these tax credits set to expire on December 31st, our neighbors literally cannot afford to wait.

Do you think Speaker Johnson should stop blocking a vote on extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits?

Recently, I asked whether you had already been notified that your health care costs were rising, or if you were worried they soon would be. Eighty-four percent of respondents said they had either already received notice of higher costs or were concerned that increases were coming.

I heard the same message on the road from constituents across Pennsylvania: by overwhelming margins, people are worried about losing access to health care and facing higher premiums.

Despite overwhelming public outcry, congressional conservatives pushed through a new proposal that would actually kick even more people off their health care. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that this latest “plan” would leave an additional 100,000 Americans uninsured each year and slash $131 billion from our health care system.

That comes on top of nearly $1 trillion in health care cuts conservatives have already enacted—cuts that are projected to cause 15 million Americans to lose their health insurance—all to fund tax breaks that overwhelmingly benefit the ultra-wealthy.

But I am not giving up this fight. I go to work every day for the hardworking people of Philadelphia, not billionaires or special interests. Pennsylvanians have been loud and clear: protect their health care and keep costs down.

As always, if my office can help you or your neighbors in any way with a federal agency, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
