Back in 2022:
- I was defending what some experts considered the single most competitive House district in the country.
- I was a well-known member of the January 6th Committee, seeking justice and accountability for the failed attempt to steal an election.
- The Supreme Court had just overturned Roe v. Wade.
- Coastal Virginia was still recovering from the pandemic.
- Virginia had shifted to the right in the 2021 gubernatorial election, and national headwinds strongly favored the GOP.
Now, in 2026:
- I’m the challenger in what experts are calling a top-targeted Toss-Up district.
- The Supreme Court has weakened, attacked, and undermined even more of our fundamental rights.
- Our leaders are exploiting the U.S. military as a political prop and threatening our servicemembers.
- Coastal Virginia is suffering from new economic hardships, especially for our 30,000+ federal workers.
- Virginia went blue big-time in 2025, choosing freedom, law and order, affordability, and accountability.
- The national headwinds strongly favor Democrats.
I don’t like to count my chickens before they hatch, John, but there are many, many well-founded reasons to be confident about our odds next November. First, though, we have to conquer our End-of-Year FEC deadline.
Help me send the message that 2026 is going to be a very different story from 2022: Will you contribute $26 towards my FEC goal so we can lay a foundation for victory in this must-win election?
Gratefully,
Elaine Luria
