For roughly two years, our team has been organized around an organizational imperative: to do everything we can as legal-advocates to help the domestic movement to end the genocide in Palestine —a movement built on the courage of students, organizers, and people of good conscience everywhere saying no to U.S. complicity in the killing and dispossession of a people. But the bravery of this movement has been met with repression, even retaliatory detention.
Muslim Advocates has responded by:
* Representing Leqaa Kordia in her federal habeas lawsuit. Ms. Kordia is the last of the Columbia University protesters who remains imprisoned by ICE




* Suing the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for their retaliatory punishment of individuals involved in the peaceful encampment there




* Launching First Amendment litigation against City University of New York in defense of student activists for Palestine




* Drafting coalition letters to universities nationwide against the weaponization of material support for terrorism statutes, drawing support from organizations with varied missions and representing disparate communities


At this point, there is no doubt that vulnerable communities will continue to be targeted for their right to dissent — on the question of Palestine and anything else this Administration says signals noncompliance.
