Friend, Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented attack on our right to vote -- with Facebook’s help.
That’s right: Trump’s re-election campaign is buying hundreds of targeted ads on Facebook that spread disinformation about voting. But Facebook refuses to take these demonstrably false ads down -- and the company continues to make money off of them.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is testifying before Congress next week. We can’t let this opportunity to hold Facebook accountable pass us by.
Join tens of thousands of concerned Americans who are urging key oversight bodies to investigate Facebook -- and stop the platform from profiting off political ads that spread lies about voting >>
We’ll deliver your signature next week, Friend -- so speak out now and spread the word!
Facebook has repeatedly refused to hold Trump to any sort of standard on its platform. And now, as states consider expanding their vote-by-mail options to help Americans vote safely in November -- Trump is once again taking advantage of this leniency.
His re-election campaign has purchased over 500 Facebook ads with disproven claims about voter fraud. [1] And how can these false, irresponsible ads run uninhibited?
Because Facebook exempts politicians’ ads -- including Trump’s -- from any fact-checking. [2] And even though Facebook claims it bans political ads that discourage voting, the platform hasn’t stopped the Trump campaign from publishing its harmful posts.
These ads could deter everyday Americans from exercising their right to vote -- but it seems Facebook has no problem running them, so long as they generate revenue.
Facebook has no right to profit off attacks on our democracy. If you agree, demand immediate investigations into Facebook -- and we’ll deliver your signature >>
Clearly, the team at Facebook has learned nothing from its 2016 debacle -- when the presidential election was polluted by foreign disinformation shared on its platform.
It’s time we demand real accountability for Facebook, Friend. I hope you’ll join me in speaking out before next week’s hearing.
Thanks for all you do,
