Dear Friend,
This photo is one of the only happy memories Josh Taylor’s children — Creedence and Lainey — have of their father.
I’m asking you today to donate whatever you can to help free an innocent police officer
…because Josh Taylor is serving 4 years in prison for a crime another officer committed.
And that should outrage every American who believes in justice.
My name is Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
I’ve spent my life in law enforcement. I know what a righteous prosecution looks like.
And I know a railroaded cop when I see one.
Police Officer Josh Taylor of the Wilson Police Department in Oklahoma is innocent — yet he’s sitting in a prison cell right now.
The facts of his case are as clear as the difference between night and day.
If you missed the national headlines, here’s what happened.
On July 4, 2019, Josh Taylor and his partner Brandon Dingman responded to a domestic disturbance call.
They encountered a 350-pound man named Jared Lakey, walking down the street completely naked.
Lakey was clearly not in his right mind — whether drugs, mental illness, or both.
Josh and Brandon tried to do their jobs and get Lakey the help he needed.
But Lakey fought them. He was too big and too strong to be handcuffed by just two officers.
Following their training, Josh and Brandon deployed a NON-LETHAL taser to try to subdue Lakey.
Lakey ripped out the taser barbs, making it ineffective.
Then a county deputy sheriff arrived as backup. He didn’t coordinate. He didn’t ask what was needed.
He just acted. The deputy snuck up on Lakey and placed him in a dangerous chokehold for 40 seconds.
Only after that was Lakey finally handcuffed.
Soon after, Lakey had trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital, where he died two days later.
Here’s the key fact the prosecutor didn’t want you to focus on:
Josh Taylor and Brandon Dingman were TWICE CLEARED — by the Chief of Police and by the City Council.
Because they used a NON-LETHAL taser.
The deputy sheriff’s chokehold is what restricted Lakey’s airway for 40 seconds.
The deputy sheriff caused this tragedy — not Josh Taylor.
But a year later, a politicized prosecutor brought second-degree murder charges against Josh and Brandon…
…while REFUSING to charge the deputy sheriff, who just happened to be politically connected.
Josh and Brandon weren’t connected.
So they were expendable.
The deputy was allowed to quietly resign and testify against them.
In exchange, he faced no charges at all.
Even though his chokehold likely caused Lakey’s death.
GIVE NOW
It gets worse.
At trial, the central issue was whether Lakey died from the NON-LETHAL taser or the deputy’s chokehold.
When the Medical Examiner testified, he admitted the cause of death was a “guess.”
A GUESS.
No American should lose his freedom based on a guess.
Multiple taser experts testified that tasers are non-lethal and did not cause Lakey’s death.
Yet Josh Taylor and Brandon Dingman were convicted anyway.
They are now serving 11-year prison sentences for another man’s actions.
That is a grave miscarriage of justice.
An emergency appeal has been filed to overturn these convictions.
The facts are strong.
But appeals require serious legal firepower — and that costs money.
That’s where the National Center for Police Defense (NCPD) comes in.
NCPD is the last line of defense for law enforcement officers targeted by corrupt prosecutors.
They are assembling the legal team needed to fight this injustice — and they are raising the funds to make it possible.
Josh Taylor’s children need their father.
Creedence and Lainey deserve to grow up with their dad — not visiting him behind bars.
And let me be very clear about something else:
A cop in prison is a walking target.
That reality alone should horrify you.
I’m asking you to stand with me and help right this wrong.
Please donate $15, $25, $50, $100, or more today to the National Center for Police Defense.
Your gift could be the difference between Josh Taylor coming home — or spending another decade in prison for a crime he did not commit.
The anti-cop crusade by radical prosecutors must stop. No more railroading innocent officers.
Stand with Josh Taylor. Stand with Brandon Dingman. Stand with the men and women who protect us.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Respectfully,
Sheriff Joe Arpaio
P.S. Josh Taylor’s appeal has real momentum — but only if NCPD has the resources to fight.
Please give $35, $50, $100, $250 or more today and help bring an innocent cop home where he belongs.
