This holiday season, many of us are reflecting on how we can make it possible for us not just to endure a challenging moment for democracy—but to move it forward. With growing polarization and extremism, it’s clear we need real solutions and Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) is one of the most powerful tools we have.

Because of you, 2025 was a strong and affirming year for Ranked Choice Voting in Minnesota. Voters in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Minnetonka, and St. Louis Park once again showed that RCV works delivering:

✔ Record turnout
✔ Strong voter understanding
✔ Civil, competitive campaigns
✔ Results that reflect the will of the people

These successes continue to make RCV a trusted, everyday part of Minnesota’s civic life.

And now, we are standing at the threshold of a historic opportunity for RCV in Minnesota.

Heading into the 2026 midterms, we have a real and attainable path to electing a pro-RCV majority in the Minnesota Legislature—creating the conditions to advance statewide RCV reform in 2027 and beyond. With historic turnover ahead and a growing class of candidates who understand and champion RCV, this is the strongest opening we’ve ever had.

In the year ahead, we’ll be taking RCV on the road across Greater Minnesota, deepening awareness, building partnerships, and expanding the base of support. We’ll also be working locally in Hopkins to support a ballot initiative that could add another suburban community to Minnesota’s growing list of RCV cities.

But this moment will not carry itself forward. The groundwork we lay now—educating candidates, building coalitions, supporting local campaigns, and shaping the public narrative—will determine what becomes possible next.
