Dear John,

When Susan felt what she describes as a “blast furnace” in her chest, she knew something was wrong.

Her instincts told her it was her heart. Within three weeks, she had been tested, screened, and diagnosed with a 90 percent blockage in her right coronary artery. Her doctor told her, “If you hadn’t been so alert to your symptoms, the outcome could have been very different.”

Susan calls herself lucky.

Most women wait weeks, sometimes months, to be taken seriously. Many never get the care they need in time.

After her stent procedure, Susan’s world changed. She began searching for meaning in what she had survived. That’s when she found WomenHeart, and everything shifted.

Through our virtual support groups, Susan found connection, understanding, and strength. She met women who shared her fears, her resilience, and her determination to live fully. With their encouragement, she became a WomenHeart Champion, helping other women find their voice and the courage to advocate for their own care.

Susan now co-leads a support group and speaks out so that no woman faces heart disease alone. She often says, “I want to do for women what WomenHeart did for me.”

Your generosity makes that possible.

When you give to WomenHeart, you help train Champions like Susan who educate women about heart disease, lead support groups across the country, and advocate for equity in women’s healthcare.

As the year comes to a close, please make your gift today. Together, we can help more women recognize the signs, find the right care, and live long, healthy lives.
