To start, I need to tell you that my staff thinks it’s weird I’m writing to you on my birthday. However, I know they invited you to a virtual birthday event on Friday. They tried to make it a surprise but I’m not good with surprises…
Anyways, I wanted to take a moment to let you know why this event is so special. Campaigning during a global pandemic is challenging. The reason why I’m running is to represent you. Not being out in full force on the campaign trail with you face-to-face – hearing your stories and what you need from your representation – is the hardest part for me.
My team is launching a series of virtual Grassroots Events to help us continue to connect and do it in an accessible way. That means that we don’t want money to be a barrier. We will be doing some free events, but also some events that are specifically designed to help us raise resources needed to help us win. However, every event, paid or not, will have options to help all of you take part.
So much of what’s wrong with politics is how disconnected our representatives are from the communities they represent. It’s important that we have an active conversation throughout this campaign and that we keep that going once I’m elected. My job is to be your voice in Congress. I take that role seriously and make the promise to you that I want you to hold me accountable to that task.
I hope you join us for our Grassroots Events and find the conversations, topics, and format beneficial to you and that you use these as a platform to invite your friends and family to get to know me and my campaign better.
Let’s create a new form of engagement, together. Thank you for being on this journey with me.
With peace,
Qasim
P.S. I got too much into the explanation and forgot to share the link to my birthday event this Friday. Here’s the link and remember that even a donation of $1, $5, or whatever you can secures your spot. [link removed] [[link removed]]
