Friends and neighbors,
I want to send the warmest Christmas wishes to you and your family.
At its core, Christmas is the celebration of Jesus Christ coming into the world. God offered us the greatest gift imaginable, His Son, bringing hope, direction, and the promise of salvation for all.
For many years it has felt like there is a War on Christmas. I’m sure you’ve noticed how many people say “Happy Holidays” instead of Merry Christmas. When I was on the school board, I saw firsthand how many people were told they could not mention Christmas or even say “Merry Christmas” in public settings, especially in schools.
I filmed a video recently to explain why it is simply not true that you can’t wish people a Merry Christmas. Christmas is a federal holiday, Minnesota’s Constitution openly expresses gratitude to God, and even the Capitol itself reflects the Judeo-Christian principles that helped shape our laws and traditions. I would encourage everyone to speak plainly and confidently when wishing others a Merry Christmas. It’s allowed.

Remember the true message of Christmas: “peace on earth and goodwill toward all.” Let’s show kindness, lend a hand where we can, and let our actions reflect the love God shows us.
I pray this Christmas fills your home with joy, strengthens your faith, and brings peace that carries into the year ahead.
God bless you and your loved ones.
