We met Grace* a few winters ago. She had gone through a lot in her 16 years, and the road to recovery ahead of her was not going to be easy either.

Recognizing this, her Love146 social worker introduced Grace to crocheting as a way to help her cope. Over the next two years, Grace crocheted during long stretches in hospitals and detention, spaces where time moves slowly. This year, Grace is back home with her family and is using her skills to make colorful hats for everyone in her family, going to the store with her Love146 social worker to pick out unique colors that fit the personalities of each of her family members.

The holiday season often comes with familiar rhythms, traditions that feel like a warm hug, gingerbread cookies, candlelight prayers, snowflakes.

But for many of the youth we serve (and maybe you, too), this time of year brings a mix of feelings. There may be joy, but there is often also grief. Some youth are grieving what they lost, or what they never had. But with the support of Love146, they are also beginning to build something new. New skills, new memories, new hope.

Your support meets youth in that complexity, offering not only practical support, but space for healing, connection, and new kinds of “normal.”

Because of your generosity, Love146 is able to meet a survivor’s multitude of needs with trauma-informed care. Your gift stitches together joy and safety – what childhood should feel like.

Thank you for standing against exploitation and protecting a child, helping them reclaim peace and possibility this holiday season.
