This month, the Society of Family Planning released a report documenting abortion rates since early 2022. In their report, data from the first half of 2025 show an increase in telehealth abortions, identifying a steady increase annually since 2022. [1] What this tells us is that with the help of shield laws, telehealth services for medication abortion continue to rise despite anti-abortion efforts to block access to abortion pills. More people are turning to out-of-state providers for access to abortion care, suggesting growing knowledge of care networks for accessing pills. [2] This giving season, let’s continue to uplift the community aid networks getting pills to the people that need it – no matter where they live. In the new year and beyond, supporting these networks and working to protect abortion providers can ensure that abortion seekers have access to a full spectrum of care options.
