Friend,
Have you heard of AB5?

AB5 is a law passed by California that imposes significant restrictions on independent contractors, forcing millions of workers into having to make an all-or-nothing choice about whether to be a full-time employee… or not to work at all.

It was a lose-lose situation for all. ([link removed])

Independent contractors lost their freedom to choose how, when, and for whom they work. And worse, they lost their ability to work—period. Many businesses couldn’t afford to offer all independent contractors formal employment opportunities, so they had to let them go.

It was bad for workers, bad for business, and bad for the economy. ([link removed])

This is just one example of the kinds of senseless policies being considered by several states and Congress that will destroy independent contracting jobs—from writers to graphic designers to photographers.

Framed as a protection for “workers’ rights,” regulations like this do nothing but strip independent contractors, freelancers, and gig economy workers of their right to work in a way that makes the most sense for them.

That’s why we must speak up to protect independent contractors today. ([link removed])

Most independent contractors choose this work arrangement because they value the flexibility and freedom it brings. These arrangements allow workers to have greater control of their schedules and work. They get to decide when, with whom, and how much they work.

Independent contractors also have the freedom to develop a relationship with more than one company, which can create additional financial security since they don’t have to rely entirely on any one entity for their income.

So it makes no sense that the government would try to double-down on their over-regulation of this important part of our workforce.

We must act now to protect independent workers. Sign the petition. ([link removed])
