We are in a time like no other in recent memory. Knowing and understanding what is taking place in our world is more crucial than it has ever been. To do so requires truthful and fair information based on honest and fact-based reporting. But today the media is under attack on a multitude of fronts. The economic model for local news has collapsed, Congress has ceased support for public media, and government officials are finding more ways to conceal what they are doing—everywhere from the Pentagon to the White House.
Now, more than ever, we need independent media that is not generated by Artificial Intelligence nor simply repeating official press releases. We need investigative reporting, analysis, and stories that let the people who are affected by the policies, cutbacks, and shut downs speak for themselves. We need a media that faithfully represents the hopes and dreams and aspirations of everyday people, from all walks of life, and from many different countries of origin.
