** Dear John,
------------------------------------------------------------

Meet Ana*, a community health worker in a rural clinic for farmworkers and their families. Every day, she sees the impact of fear of detention and deportation: patients skipping appointments, delaying care, declining prescriptions, and missing out on diagnoses and treatment.

Every day, Ana faces tough questions from patients:
* “How do I manage my diabetes when I can’t afford healthy food?”
* “What can I do about stress and anxiety?”
* “Are there safe alternatives when medication isn’t available?”

Ana wants to help—but without clear, reliable information, she feels stuck. And fear makes everything worse. In her community, people hesitate to share information because they worry it could be used to target them. Even Ana isn’t certain that institutions that once felt safe can still offer the same protection.

This fear—of detention and deportation—has devastating consequences: skipped appointments and delayed care mean delayed diagnoses, late-stage disease presentation, and worsening physical and mental health.

That’s why Ana turned to MCN. Through webinars and resources, she gained practical strategies for nutrition, mental health, and chronic disease management—tools she can use immediately to guide her patients with confidence.

This is what Compassion Over Politics looks like: listening, learning, and responding with solutions that keep care accessible for everyone.
