Hi friend,
I hope you’re well and you get a chance to recharge over this upcoming holiday week. This past week, I've been focused on fighting for our local infrastructure and combatting Trump and Hegseth’s abuses on the national level. Thank you for being on my team.

What I’m doing: I helped deliver more than $6 million in new funding to Poughkeepsie to tackle one of the most serious public health challenges facing our community: lead in drinking water. This funding will support the removal of thousands of lead service lines and strengthen stormwater infrastructure, protecting families and especially children from dangerous exposure. I have worked closely with state and local partners to get these federal dollars out the door and into communities that need them most. This investment is game-changing. Parents in Poughkeepsie should never have to wonder whether the water coming out of the tap is safe for their kids.
Replacing every lead line is a massive undertaking, and I am committed to staying in this fight until the job is done. Clean water is not optional. It is a basic right.
What you can do: Stay engaged with local updates on water infrastructure work and line replacement programs. If your home may be affected, take advantage of inspections and testing opportunities as they become available. And keep speaking up for continued investment in clean water and public health. When communities demand action, we make real progress together.

What I’m doing: I am continuing to press the state to restore full ferry service between Newburgh and Beacon. This connection is essential to the Hudson Valley’s economy and quality of life. I joined local leaders and the Save the Ferry Community Coalition in calling on the MTA and Metro-North to bring the ferry back after it was shut down this summer. While additional shuttle buses are helpful, they are not a substitute for a reliable river crossing. The ferry cuts commute times dramatically, reduces congestion on the Newburgh Beacon Bridge, and links Orange and Dutchess counties. I will keep pushing state leaders to do what is right for commuters, small businesses, and families on both sides of the river. We need to save the ferry!
What you can do: Add your voice to this effort. If the ferry matters to your commute, your business, or your community, speak up. Sign petitions, attend local meetings, and contact state transportation officials to demand the ferry’s return. When the Hudson Valley shows up together, we can restore the services our region depends on.

What I’m doing: I am demanding transparency from the Pentagon after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth refused to release footage from a strike in the Caribbean that reportedly killed survivors of an initial attack. The administration routinely releases strike videos when it suits their narrative, so Americans should ask a simple question: why is this the one video Hegseth will not show the public? [[link removed]] I have joined bipartisan colleagues in pressing the Department of Defense to release the footage and explain the legal justification for these strikes, which Congress has never authorized. Accountability is required when military force is used in our name.
What you can do: Back the call for real accountability. I have been clear that Pete Hegseth’s conduct is unacceptable and that he should be fired. You can join the call to fire Hegseth by signing my petition here. [[link removed]] Contact your representatives and urge them to support my demand for his removal and for full transparency around these strikes. Speak out publicly, share the facts, and do not let this get swept under the rug. When senior officials endanger lives and refuse oversight, the only answer is consequences.

The choice couldn’t be clearer. Repeal the tax handouts for the top 0.1 percent and extend ACA tax credits so working families can afford health care. That’s it. Republicans want to protect giveaways for the ultra-wealthy. I’m fighting to lower costs and put people first. This is exactly what it looks like when someone stands with the people instead of the elites.
Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!
In Solidarity,
Pat
