As Executive Director of Ranked Choice Voting Maryland, I work with volunteers and partners across our state to improve our democracy. I’m proud to say that the ranked choice voting movement’s most recent win was right here in the city of Greenbelt, and 2026 will bring even more opportunities in Maryland cities like Annapolis, Hyattsville, Frederick, College Park, and Rockville.

RCV Maryland’s work is driven by dedicated volunteers who take time out of their busy lives to knock on doors, host and attend meetings, send texts, and make phone calls. We have only two full-time staff to support and coordinate multiple city and county initiatives across Maryland. That’s why support from a national RCV organization like FairVote is so important. FairVote’s support makes our work and our wins – and those of state and local partners across the nation – possible.

Will you consider a gift ([link removed]) to FairVote today to help more cities and states win ranked choice voting? The smallest gift can have a major impact for community leaders working to rebuild and strengthen our democracy.

In 2025, I saw the path to new adoptions of ranked choice voting in our state. But if I had to spend each day fundraising – and find extra hours to craft all our materials from scratch, including researching and writing legal ordinances – there wouldn’t be any hours left in the day to organize our volunteers!

That’s why FairVote is a vital partner. It’s not just financial support. The biggest benefit of having FairVote by my side is access to their research, communication, and strategy support.

Our win in Greenbelt gives us momentum, and shows proof of what’s possible. We have big plans to build on that win in 2026 – whether it’s adoptions in other cities, advancing legislation at the state level, or more voter and candidate education.
