Last week, the US House adjourned for our end-of-year recess. House Republicans chose not to extend the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced subsidies which are set to expire December 31^st. That means millions of American families will directly be affected by a drastic increase in healthcare premiums in 2026 and millions more will be indirectly affected by a health system with more people uninsured and more rural health facilities closing. 

This is going to have catastrophic ramifications for underserved communities across the country. Parents are going to be forced to make impossible decisions, in a country that touts itself as the leader of the free world. We must demand more from our leadership, and if they aren’t up for it, we need to vote them out of office.
