Our mission is more important than ever, will you join us?
End-of-Year Greetings from Hastings President!
Dear Friend,
As 2025 comes to an end, I want to thank you personally for your support and remind you why our work matters now more than ever.
You may notice a small but important change: we are now The Hastings Center for Bioethics. This addition to our name reflects what we have always done: rigorous, independent bioethics. It makes it clear to policymakers, journalists, educators, and funders who we are and what we contribute.
For over 50 years, our work has been informing policy discussions, professional guidance, media coverage, and public understanding, particularly on issues such as:
trust and trustworthiness in science and medicine
equity in public and population health
aging, dementia, and end-of-life care
reproductive and genomic technologies
disability and inclusion
-and more recently-
ethical use of artificial intelligence in health care and research
Our analysis is widely used because it is not shaped by political or commercial interests. It is independent, nonpartisan, and grounded in well-informed thoughtful scholarship. That independence is sustained in large part by donors like you.
Philanthropic support allows us to set our own research agenda, respond quickly to emerging ethical challenges, convene experts with diverse perspectives, and make our work broadly accessible. We consistently earn a four-star rating from Charity Navigator (top 97%), reflecting strong accountability and transparency and our commitment to trustworthiness.
We strongly value your privacy and would never sell, give, or otherwise share your information. Want to change how you receive these emails?
