Give a Gift to PFLAG National This Holiday Season

2025 has been one of the most challenging and difficult years for LGBTQ+ people since PFLAG’s inception. From legislative attacks on transgender youth to rollbacks of hard-won protections, the community and our families have been tested in ways we haven’t seen in generations.

And here’s another unfortunate reality: As a direct result of anti-DEIA efforts from the Trump administration, we saw a massive decrease in funding from our philanthropic partners, leaving us with a $1.3 million gap in our budget.

The challenges we face aren’t going away, but with your support, neither will we. We will continue showing up, creating caring, just, and affirming communities and families across the country.

Your tax-deductible gift—whether it’s $25, $100, or whatever feels right for you—ensures we have the resources to keep going at a time when the stakes have never been higher. Will you join us?

Together we’re stronger than any challenge we face and we’ll continue the fight in 2026 and beyond with your support and commitment. Give today!

PFLAG Advocacy Update

Last week, following backroom deals by congressional leadership, the U.S. House of Representatives passed two anti-trans bills. One bill would criminalize gender-affirming care for minors at the federal level, while the other would eliminate Medicaid coverage for that care. Both bills face steep uphill battles in the Senate. PFLAG National has been working aggressively to defeat these measures and is part of a national coalition coordinating legislative strategy and mobilization in response.  We will continue to strongly oppose them and work tirelessly to stop them.

Additionally, the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced proposed rules aimed at curtailing trans youth access to medically necessary care. One rule conditions Medicare and Medicaid funding for hospitals on those hospitals refusing to provide gender-affirming care to trans and nonbinary youth under 18. Another proposed rule would forbid Medicaid and CHIP from covering gender-affirming care for youth under 18 and 19, respectively. It is important to note that these proposed rules are not a ban on medically necessary, gender-affirming care and are not in effect.

PFLAG National’s policy and advocacy teams are actively leading in national roundtables alongside partner organizations to analyze these proposed rules and develop an effective, coordinated public comment strategy. The process allows for a 60-day window to provide comment. We will have more information and actions to take in the New Year.
