America’s Creed Ronald Reagan’s 1980 address to the Religious Roundtable’s National Affairs Briefing in Dallas, Texas, was a huge event. It was seen on the Right as a good thing and on the Left as a horrifying thing. Reagan told the gathering of religious leaders, “I know you can’t endorse me, but I endorse you.” The country had been through so much smashing of traditional values and ripping Christianity out of the popular culture. It was one reason why Catholics and Evangelicals flocked to Ronald Reagan. Bible reading had been ripped out of schools. Roe v. Wade and abortion on demand had become the law of the land. Year after year, it was one shock after another to the country’s morals and virtues. So, millions of Catholics and Evangelical Christians in the Midwest abandoned traditional party loyalties and voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980. Years later, when George W. Bush and I both said that the individual who had the most impact on our lives was Jesus Christ, it was like a thunderbolt to the Left. We were told, “You can’t say that because America is a pluralistic country!” Oh, so we should lie then? That’s what the leftist critics were saying—that we could not truthfully answer the question because we were violating their yardstick about what can and cannot be said in America. Then, along came Donald Trump. Many Christians had misgivings about Trump, but we didn’t. From the very beginning we saw the strength in him. And throughout his first term and this first year of his second term, Donald Trump has delivered more for Christians than any president in history, bar none. Now comes J.D. Vance. He was not your typical Republican senator. He goes to the Turning Point USA conference, which is not your typical conservative group, and he makes an extraordinary statement of truth about America that has been almost impossible to say for decades. He said: “More than any time I can recount, people are talking about American identity and figuring out what it is that unites us. But I want to say something here. The only thing that has truly served as an anchor of the United States of America is that we have been—and by the grace of God, we always will be—a Christian nation. “Now, I want to be explicit, because of course the fake news media will twist everything that I say. . . I’m not saying you have to be a Christian to be an American. I’m saying something simpler and truer. Christianity is America’s creed—the shared moral language from the Revolution to the Civil War and beyond. “Across that history, our country’s major debates have always centered on how we could best, as a people, please God. That creed motivated our understanding of natural law and rights, our sense of duty to one’s neighbor, the conviction that the strong must protect the weak, and the belief in individual conscience. “Even our famously American idea of religious liberty is a Christian concept. Because we’re all creatures of God, we must respect each individual’s pathway to that God. “But over the last fifty years, there has been a singular focus—a war that has been waged on Christians and Christianity in the United States of America. And let me say, of all the wars that Donald Trump has ended, that is the one we’re proudest of.” Vice President Vance is right! The whole impulse of America from the very beginning has been driven by the Christian faith. Here’s what the Pilgrims wrote at the beginning of the Mayflower Compact: “IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. We, whose names are underwritten. . . Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the first Colony in the northern Parts of Virginia. . .” God is mentioned four times in our Declaration of Independence. The Northwest Ordinance, the first major federal law signed by President George Washington, declares: “Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.” That’s how our Founding Fathers viewed the purpose of schools—to promote religion and morality, as well as knowledge. Tell that to the teachers’ unions today, and they’d be absolutely apoplectic! They think the purpose of schools is to promote the religion of Big Government and the immorality of the radical LGBTQ agenda. This is Christmas week 2025. I believe the remarks from J.D. Vance, the man who may be the next president of the United States, will eventually be seen as a historic moment, just as Ronald Reagan’s 1980 remarks became a historic turning point for America. Another Big Moment Turning Point USA hosted its annual AmericaFest event this weekend. More than 30,000 people attended, making it the largest AmericaFest ever. Anyone who thought that Charlie Kirk’s assassination meant the end of Turning Point USA is sorely mistaken. One of yesterday’s final events featured a discussion with Erika Kirk and rap superstar Nicki Minaj. This was an incredibly important cultural moment. Minaj isn’t some “gangster rapper” with a list of criminal charges. She has been a little edgy in her entertainment, but she told the audience that she refused to be afraid of the intolerant Left anymore. She said she has held conservative views but couldn’t share them without the roof caving in on her. She is done being afraid and won’t do it again. She talked about the role of Christianity in her life and praised President Trump for fighting Christian persecution around the world. Referring to the Left’s attacks on faith here in America, Minaj said: “I truly feel that there are people out there who felt good about chastising Christians right here in our country. And it’s kinda really, really sick. We can’t let people like that be in power. . . The truth is, I am here today to tell you guys that. We absolutely cannot let people who have a problem with us worshiping God; we cannot have them in power.” I think this is just one of many things suggesting an incredible change in America may be on the horizon. Trump Gets Results Friday afternoon, the Trump White House announced another huge deal with nine major pharmaceutical companies. Of course, the only way the fake news media will judge whether you’re doing anything about healthcare is whether you’re renewing subsidies for Obamacare. Meanwhile, President Trump is doing real things for real people, lowering costs across the board. He’s doing it by threatening pharmaceutical companies with tariffs unless they lower drug costs for American consumers. So, once again, the tariffs are creating big victories for the American people. Here are a few examples of what President Trump has achieved: The price of a drug that lowers cholesterol will be reduced by 60%. The price of a drug that treats HIV will be reduced by 85%. The price of a drug that treats type II diabetes will be reduced by 90%. The price of a popular blood thinner to prevent clots, heart attacks, and strokes will be reduced by 98%. Minnesota Mess Minnesota’s corruption and fraud scandal just keeps getting worse every day. Federal prosecutors recently announced that the state’s total fraud losses may be as much as $9 billion. That’s billion with a “B.” Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is in full damage control mode. He posted a video this weekend bragging about how his office is cracking down on fraud. I’d say it’s too little, too late! Meanwhile, Gov. Walz’s defense has been pathetic. He suggested it wasn’t his job to personally check every application for fraud. No, governor, we don’t expect you to personally check every application. But you are the head of the state government. People do expect you to direct the bureaucrats below you to do their jobs to make sure taxpayers aren’t getting ripped off! But he’s not even doing that. Walz was repeatedly warned by whistleblowers about the tremendous fraud that was taking place. Instead of prosecuting the criminal fraudsters, Walz punished the whistleblowers. Democrats like Walz are only interested in shoveling money out the door to favored constituencies as fast as possible. Now, Walz has the audacity to say, “I am accountable for this, and more importantly, I am the one that will fix it.” Yes, “Tampon Tim,” you are accountable because you’re the one who allowed it to happen!
