Greetings Plastic Pollution Activists,

2025 tested us with many challenges, from new executive orders to “bring back plastic straws” to layoffs of NPS employees who protect our national parks. Despite this, we stood firm in our mission to advance policies that protect the planet and its people. We are celebrating another incredible year of advocacy work thanks to our coalition partners, government allies, ambassadors, and of course, YOU.

* YOU took nearly 10,000 actions in support of the bills 5 Gyres led and endorsed, using your voice to advocate for policies that keep microplastics out of our water and air.
* YOU participated in a nationwide poll ([link removed]) to better understand public perception around microplastics, with the results showing strong bipartisan support for policies that prevent microplastic pollution and safeguard human health. This data will move the plastic pollution policy needle forward as we continue to educate our nation’s leaders with science-based facts.
* YOU joined us in reaching out to your elected officials, demanding a Microplastic-Free US ([link removed]) . We are continuing to rally signatures and amplify voices to protect our communities from microplastics -spread the word here ([link removed]) !

Thanks to generous donor support, we were also able to hire a State Community Advocacy Manager, Melissa Morris. She brings a wealth of experience to our team, and we look forward to sharing progress in California, Florida, and other key states in 2026!
