A stethoscope hangs on the coat rack in my congressional office in Washington, D.C., right next to my desk.

Even after years serving in Congress, I’m still a pediatrician first.

Doctoring has shaped almost every instinct I have, every decision I make, and every fight I take on for the people of WA-08. Medicine has taught me something I'll never forget: You do what's right for the patient, not for yourself.

In the exam room, that means listening carefully, asking the right questions, and working together with families to restore—and then maintain—health. Doing the most good for the most people, and helping others before you help yourself, means refusing to give up on someone just because the diagnosis is tough or the treatment will take time.

Serving as your representative in Congress, at least for me, looks the same.

Doctors don't walk away when things get hard. We show up—every step of the way—with a caring hand, a steady voice, and thoughtful treatment. That's the kind of leadership I bring to Congress, and it's never been more necessary than it is at this moment. But to keep doing this work, I need you with me. WA-08 is a swing district, and we already have three Republican opponents in this race. As we prepare to head into an election year, everything we do from here on out has the power to shape the outcome of this race.
