Run for Something

Hi there --

After two years and 900+ candidates, something that brings me endless joy is learning what our absolutely incredible alumni are up to. Here are four former RFS candidates making shit happen:

  1. Leila Counts, a member of the Tucson United School District Board, is in the Tucson Weekly, talking about how knocking 20,000 doors (!!!) during her campaign meant she heard from voters exactly what they wanted from their school board: "Number one, fix our schools, and number two, fix the dysfunction on the board."
  2. While the Tennessee State Legislature continues banning abortion before many women know they're pregnant, former nurse and current State Senator Katrina Robinson is fighting on the side of accessible health care. Watch her ask her colleague, "I'm a nurse. What are you?"
  3. Bushra Amiwala, who serves on the Board of Education in her hometown of Skokie, Illinois, was interviewed by NowThis about the pressures of representing not only her constituents, but young Muslim women everywhere.
  4. The Austin City Council -- including Paige Ellis -- is working to find a way to help low-income women obtain abortions, even while state law makes it more difficult.

This is the Run for Something effect: plant a thousand (okay, 900+) seeds, and people across the country will get strong progressive representatives fighting for them. We're working every day to get folks started who will make a difference for years, if we just give them a chance. Can you help by chipping in a few bucks?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Thanks!
