I have been laser-focused on the families of the 5th District. From addressing the skyrocketing health care costs to fighting to end food insecurity, our community needs support and leadership more than ever before.

Between our assistance events in places like Danbury and votes in Washington, I have to tell you, fundraising has been the last thing on my mind.

But in a district as competitive as ours, we need to be raising a certain amount each month to stay competitive and ward off Republican opponents looking to flip this seat.

Right now, Democrats are seeing unprecedented levels of momentum, and we have a real chance at flipping the House blue next year. If we win, we can undo the damage of the Trump administration and deliver relief for the families that need support.

But in order to get there, we have to protect every seat we currently hold, including mine right here in Connecticut.

We know that the big Republican donors working to expand the narrow Republican majority will spend big in any race they see as vulnerable, so we cannot show any signs of weakness.
