2025 has been one of the most challenging and difficult years for LGBTQ+ people since PFLAG’s inception. From legislative attacks on transgender youth to rollbacks of hard-won protections, the community and our families have been tested in ways we haven’t seen in generations. 

But here’s what they didn’t count on: us. 

This year, we did what PFLAG does best — we showed up. In courtrooms, at state houses, and in communities across the country that need PFLAG the most.

Since the 2024 Presidential election, PFLAG National has founded over 40 new chapters across the country — predominantly in rural communities — the most in our organization’s history. Additionally, PFLAG has launched a new virtual meeting in our PFLAG Connects: Communities program, with a direct focus on supporting dads.

Through the Straight for Equality program, we have facilitated hands-on learning opportunities in nearly 100 companies, as well as created tailored resources such as, Creating Pride in Families, based on the direct needs of our partners. 

Following the election, PFLAG’s advocacy work kicked into overdrive. We tracked more than 600 anti-LGBTQ+ bills nationwide—with only 71 signed into law. We trained and educated chapter members and supporters to meet with legislators, testify on critical bills, and contact their lawmakers to ensure that PFLAG’s presence was felt in statehouses across the country.

We also saw a lot of media attention in 2025. PFLAG’s work continues at the national, state, and local levels; therefore, providing numerous opportunities to uplift our work in hundreds of communities across the country.  This year alone, we tracked over 1,100 unique stories with over 32.4 billion media impressions. 

Transparently, we saw a massive decrease in funding from many corporate partners - primarily as a direct result of anti-DEIA efforts from the administration. Although we’ve adapted new strategies and funding initiatives, this fight continues and PFLAG is needed now just as much as we were 53+ years ago. We have existed as a network of community leaders that lead with love, and will continue to do so through your support.
