Deputy Game Warden
Sebago Lakes Region, Belgrade Lakes Region or Moosehead Lake Region
These positions are full-time seasonal positions, from May 9, 2026 to the end of August. Deputy Game Wardens are assigned to specific bodies of water to enforce recreational boating rules and regulations and are a great way to begin a career with Maine Warden Service.
The hiring process is open until February 2, 2026. Applicants must successfully complete the Pre-Employment Physical Fitness Test and ALERT exam to apply. The Physical Fitness Test may be taken on January 31 at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, learn more and sign up for the test. Interested applicants are also invited to attend a Maine Warden Service Career Information Night.

This is professional services and scientific work at the technician level, involving field work to support management of the State’s wildlife resources by protecting, preserving, and enhancing Maine’s natural resources statewide. This position will assist various Departmental Staff, other State Agencies, and the public to provide technical assistance for the resolution of human-wildlife conflict and wildlife disease surveillance. This limited period position is based within the Wildlife Division.

Property Operations Coordinator

This is maintenance and personal services work responsible for the inspection, repair, and overall maintenance of MDIFW-owned water access sites. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections of infrastructure and property lines and carrying out repair and maintenance projects. Employee performs and coordinates general repair and maintenance of infrastructure including (but not limited to) roads, signage, kiosks, and parking areas, property line inspection and reporting work as needed. This is a limited period position.
