December 22, 2025

Dear John:

Last week marked the final voting week of 2025. I am proud of the work that has been done to deliver real results for Western Minnesota. While these were the last votes of the year, my focus remains on the issues that matter most to our communities, and I look forward to hitting the ground running and continuing the fight for our district in the new year.

House Republicans focused on lowering costs and protecting our way of life. We passed the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act to provide permanent relief from skyrocketing medical costs, moving away from a broken system that benefits big insurance at the expense of families. We also took critical steps to protect our ranchers by delisting the gray wolf and strengthening our energy grid to ensure reliability.

Gray Wolf Delisting

Last week, the House passed the Pet and Livestock Protection Act. This bill requires the Secretary of the Interior to reissue regulations that would remove the gray wolf from the list of endangered wildlife, which is an essential move to allow for protecting livestock and pets. I cosponsored and supported this legislation because of its importance to rural communities, particularly for farmers and ranching families across Minnesota.

Reducing Preiums for All Americans

I supported the Lower Health Care for All Americans Act to provide relief to families and small businesses struggling with rising medical costs. For too long, Washington has relied on temporary "band-aid" subsidies that only benefit a small fraction of the population.

This legislation addresses the root causes of high costs to lower premiums by an average of 11%. By empowering workers and the self-employed to negotiate better rates and providing employers with more flexibility to offer customized benefits, we are moving toward permanent solutions for 100% of Americans.

Lowering Energy Prices

I also focused on lowering energy prices to provide much-needed relief. Under Republican leadership, gas prices have already dropped to a four-year low, a stark contrast to the skyrocketing costs of heating oil and electricity we’ve faced over the last few years.

To maintain this momentum, I supported legislation this week to modernize the permitting process for natural gas pipelines and ensure our electric grid remains reliable for the long term. By repealing burdensome regulations and pairing these energy wins with the Working Families Tax Cuts, we are helping you keep more of your hard-earned money and ensuring your dollar goes further.

Meeting with the Chief Ag Negotiator

I had the privilege of meeting with Julie Callahan, the nominee for Chief Agricultural Negotiator, to ensure Minnesota’s farmers and ranchers are the top priority in our trade agenda. I am specifically pushing for parity for our turkey producers within the USMCA, and I am leading a letter to the USTR this week to demand the same firm, predictable market access for turkey that other poultry products receive.

We also discussed the importance of holding China to its commitment to purchase 12 million tons of soybeans by the end of this year to restore market confidence. Finally, I addressed concerns regarding beef imports from Argentina. I’ve been clear with the Administration that any deal must protect our domestic producers from being undercut. I will continue to fight for trade policies that are fair, predictable, and beneficial to our district.
