Stand With Truth and Justice

Dear FAIR family, 

We have about a week and a half left of our critical year-end fundraising appeal. We’ve set an ambitious goal to raise $150,000 this season, even as some support has fallen behind in recent years.

The recent Department of Justice memo indicating that the FBI would be compiling a list of groups or entities engaging in acts that may constitute “domestic terrorism” leaves ample ambiguity and room for left-leaning nonprofits and advocacy groups that the Trump administration does not like to be targeted. Those who “advance…opposition to law and immigration enforcement,” have “extreme views in favor of mass migration and open borders,” show an “adherence to radical gender ideology,” and exhibit (what the Trump administration would interpret as) “anti-Americanism” or  “anti-capitalism” could become targets. The memo instructs the FBI to set up “a cash reward system” for people who turn in those promoting such thoughtcrime. 

Attacks like this could harm groups like us, and many others we work in community with to defend the First Amendment and democracy . While the corporate press has shrouded the true authoritarian implications of this memo, independent media stepped up.
