CBS News yanks "60 Minutes" segment featuring investigation into El Salvador’s notorious Cecot megaprison

With MAGA sympathizer and noted Trump apologist Bari Weiss now installed as the new head of CBS News, it was only a matter of time before disturbing reports like this inevitably emerged. CBS abruptly cancelled last night's "60 Minutes" investigation into the notorious prison in El Salvador where the Trump regime has deported hundreds of migrants without due process, vaguely citing the need for "additional reporting." The segment, titled "Inside Cecot," was set to air last night at 7:30pm with recently released deportees speaking about the "brutal and torturous" conditions they endured in the largest prison in Latin America. On Sunday, CBS simply pulled the plug. The segment page, which previously featured a trailer, now displays the message: "The page cannot be found." This is what fascism looks like. Install sympathetic lackeys in prominent positions at "independent" media outlets and squash problematic stories you'd rather not see aired. It won't get any prettier from here, folks. We must resist, and we must remember in November.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Top DOJ official panics on air after getting caught deleting Epstein files

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche — who, it definitely bears repeating, was Donald Trump's personal criminal defense lawyer prior to joining the DOJ — had himself a real dear-in-the-headlights moment on NBC's "Meet The Press" yesterday when asked why very specific files and photos linking his boss to the late pedophile trafficker Jeffrey Epstein curiously disappeared over the weekend. Now, Blanche clearly cannot just come out and say, "We got caught messing with the files to protect Trump," because obstruction of this magnitude is an impeachable felony, but his attempt to dismiss the bipartisan outcry over what quite clearly is a cover-up as "absurd" is, well, absurd itself. Are we really supposed to believe that this DOJ, led by servile MAGA loyalists and literal ex-employees of Donald Trump, would stop at nothing to protect their cult leader? The same DOJ that waited nearly a year to release the files sitting on Pam Bondi's desk back in February? The same DOJ that tasked a thousand FBI agents with redacting Trump's name from the Epstein files prior to their release? Really? How dumb do they think we are?

Pete Hegseth is committing murder with the full force of the US military. He needs to face the music

Win Without War: US forces have killed more than 100 people in dozens of strikes targeting boats across the Caribbean and Pacific. Absent authorization from Congress, the Trump administration’s bombing campaign is illegal even if these WERE drug traffickers, as they allege. The truth is we don’t know who was on those boats because the Trump administration refuses to open up their extrajudicial execution campaign to oversight. We do know, though, that Pete Hegseth was recently implicated in a second strike that killed two helpless survivors as they clung to a wreck, which is murder no matter how you slice it. We deserve to know the truth about these strikes, and Hegseth needs to be held accountable for these disturbing allegations. Add your name to tell your congressmember to call Pete Hegseth to testify under oath before Congress!

JD Vance tells right-wing haters like Nick Fuentes they can "eat shit" for racist attacks on his wife
Just a thought, but maybe the Republican Party shouldn't have spent the past ten years platforming white supremacists, rampant xenophobes, and other deplorable, far-right quacks? The party is infected with all manner of radical, right-wing hate — much of it normalized by those at the very top of the party, like Vice President JD Vance himself. That the focus from radical ghouls given cover in Donald Trump's Republican Party has inevitably turned to Vance's Indian-American wife, Usha, is, of course, abhorrent, but it's also an entirely predictable byproduct of promoting nativist demagoguery and legitimizing hate. Play stupid, racist games, win stupid, racist prizes.

Prominent GOP senator already rejects JD Vance for president in 2028
The door hasn't quite closed on 2025 yet, but talk of Donald Trump's successor is already heating up, and one prominent Republican senator is already on the record as a hard pass on JD Vance in 2028. During an appearance on ABC’s "This Week," yesterday, Kentucky's Rand Paul was asked point blank by Jonathan Karl if Vance was MAGA's heir apparent, having already picked up the public endorsements of Sec. of State Marco Rubio and Charlie Kirk's widow, Erika. Lambasting the Trump-Vance administration's obsession with protectionist tariffs — otherwise known as taxes — Paul stood firm with a flat thumbs-down on Vance leading the party in '28 and vowed to push for a candidate who still believes that "international trade is good."

Reps. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie say they're considering inherent contempt charges against Pam Bondi over disappearing Epstein files

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna and his Republican colleague, Thomas Massie, said Sunday they are committed to holding Trump Justice Department officials accountable for their failure to release all eligible Jeffrey Epstein files by Friday’s deadline, saying they're speaking with members of Congress about holding Attorney General Pam Bondi in contempt. "The quickest way, and I think most expeditious way, to get justice for these victims is to bring inherent contempt against Pam Bondi," Massie said Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation." Khanna and Massie last month led efforts in Congress to pass the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which legally compelled the Trump regime to finally release all unclassified files it had patently refused to hand over, despite years of promises by Donald Trump himself on the campaign trail to do so once he returned to office. On Friday, the DOJ begrudgingly released thousands of files but not all the documents Khanna and Massie expected, leading to widespread condemnation of the department on both sides of the aisle.

Trump regime recalls nearly 30 career diplomats around world
The MAGA cult leader's wrecking ball campaign to remake America's global diplomatic mission in his grotesque image is continuing apace, as the chiefs of mission in at least 29 countries were informed last week that their tenures would end in January. The Trump regime is recalling the aforementioned career diplomats from ambassadorial and other senior embassy posts so they can be replaced with loyal vassals who will more vociferously promote and impose the wannabe dictator's so-called "America First" agenda. Africa is the continent most affected by the removals, with ambassadors from 13 countries being removed: Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Madagascar, Mauritius, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, and Uganda.

Trump's chief economic advisor Kevin Hassett pressed on national TV on precisely when Americans will receive Trump's promised $2,000 checks

Yeah, c'mon, Kevin! Let's hear it! When WILL we all get our big, beautiful Trump checks, bro? Wait, what's that? It will take an act of Congress to issue half a trillion dollars in Donald's farcical "tariff dividend checks?" Well, shit.
