Ben and I asked Santa (retired KPD Officer Lynn Clemons, Jr.) for a happy and safe holiday and new year for all Knoxville residents.

Dear friends,

The holidays are upon us, and for many, the next few days will be filled with annual traditions and connecting with family and friends.

As we decorated our Christmas tree, I treasured the stories behind the ornaments -- the ones made by our girls, those gifted by special friends, and our annual hanging of the commemorative Presidential ornaments. One of my favorites from the White House Historical Association honors President Jimmy Carter.

This season is also a time when I reflect on the many gifts in my life, and that includes so many special moments, milestones and initiatives helping residents in 2025:

* Opened Covenant Health Park ([link removed]) , home of the beloved Knoxville Smokies and champion One Knox Sporting Club;
* Provided emergency grant to food pantries ([link removed]) when SNAP benefits were suspended;
* Marked a year of McNabb's EmPATH Center ([link removed]) and successful collaboration ([link removed]) between KFD, KPD and other providers to respond to non-emergency medical calls;
* Continued success of the Project TLC initiative ([link removed]) in reducing violence in our neighborhoods;
* Reopened restored historic structures including the Gay Street Bridge ([link removed]) , Sanitary Laundry building, and the Knoxville Botanical Gardens' Howell House visitor center;
* and supported the creation of new homes ([link removed]) for hundreds of families across Knoxville!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your Mayor.
I love serving Knoxville and look forward to the years ahead.
Very truly yours,
Indya
