Ottawa County Unemployment Rate for September 2025

Preliminary unemployment rates for September 2025 were recently released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget. Ottawa County had an unemployment rate of 3.7%, a 0.8% drop from August’s rate of 4.5%.

Ottawa County was tied with Leelanau County as having the 5th lowest unemployment rate of all Michigan counties in September. Mackinac County had the lowest unemployment rate at 3.0%. Oscoda County had the highest rate at 7.9%. Michigan’s unemployment rate in September was 4.6%.

Due to the recent suspension of federal government services, the October unemployment rate for Ottawa County and other Michigan counties has been cancelled. November unemployment data will be available early next year.
