CNBC: Trump threatens to cut funding for schools, slams CDC reopening guidelines as too tough and expensive

Tell us your thoughts about reopening schools >>

John,

This month, the Trump administration said they wanted all schools to reopen in the fall--and they falsely claimed that the CDC would revise and loosen safety guidelines to let that happen.

Shamefully, they also threatened to cut funding for public schools that do not reopen out of safety concerns.

Let's be clear: we would love it if schools could reopen this year. As a father of two, Cameron understands completely the stress caused by not having kids go back into the classroom.

But as a doctor who's seeing the daily impact of COVID-19 up close, Cameron knows that our first priority right now must be to protect the health of teachers, students, and our community.

Rather than coerce them into changing policy, we need to lean on the insights and expertise of our public health leaders when it comes to reopening our schools. The White House's attempts to force the hand of school administrators and get ahead of the CDC are detrimental to everyone and hurt the reopening process.

To get this right, Cameron knows that we need to listen to people--particularly those who would be most affected.

Will you take our short survey and tell us your thoughts about reopening schools this fall? We want to make as many voices as possible are heard.
