For two weeks now, camouflaged officers in unmarked vans have
been grabbing protesters off the streets in Portland, Oregon, and
using excessive force against citizens exercising their First
Amendment rights. A video captured a federal officer brutally
shooting a peaceful protester in the head using impact munitions
-- causing skull fractures and severe injuries requiring urgent
surgery.

These dangerous actions are designed to escalate the situation
in Portland and around the country. Just today, Trump praised the
actions of these officers and said he was considering dispatching
similar forces to Baltimore and a handful of other American
cities.

These are steps out of a dictators' handbook. We need to STOP
TRUMP from using federal forces indiscriminately against American
citizens wherever they live! I will be joining my Senate
colleagues from Oregon to introduce legislation this week to do
just that.

None of us could have imagined we would find ourselves in this
position in the United States of America. But here we are --
facing this just 15 weeks before the November 3rd election.

this aggressive federal action is intended to provoke.
