John, public health experts agree: wearing face masks is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. That's why Laura signed an Executive Order mandating individuals wear masks in public spaces and places where maintaining social distancing isn't possible.

However, many local governments aren't implementing the mandate which is cause for concern. If we want a chance at slowing the spread of COVID-19, reopening our schools, and keeping Kansas open for business -- we need to wear masks.

Unfortunately, we have seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths across our state and our country. We must act -- and that means following Laura's mandate and wearing a mask.

Wearing a mask isn't a political statement. It's the right thing to do to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our state safe from this pandemic. And now, it's up to all of us to do our part today.
