John,
Our brothers and sisters in uniform make immense sacrifices to defend and serve our country. While they’re deployed, they trust their government officials to keep their promise.
But this year, Washington Republicans failed to do their jobs as they left our armed forces unpaid during a 43-day-long government shutdown.
I enlisted in the Marine Corps right after graduating from East Central High School because that’s what I learned from my parents: hard work, service, and giving back to our community.
But I also knew my family prayed for me every day I spent abroad. I’m someone who understands the sacrifices that members of our military make to protect us. That’s why, even as a candidate, I’m focused on designing legislation to keep our military heroes paid during a government shutdown.
If you’re ready to help a Democratic candidate with the experience and grit to win even in an R+4 district like TX-35, then you can pitch in to my congressional campaign’s $10,000 fundraising goal here:

The amount we raise by the end of the month will be made public. And with this much attention on our campaign, we need to stay strong.
Thank you,
John Lira
