Herbert, I didn’t come this far to stop fighting now.

I grew up an immigrant kid in a family that worked hard but still relied on food stamps and public housing to get by. People like us weren’t supposed to “make it,”  and we were reminded of that constantly.

But with hard work and the support of our community, we were able to find stability.

Then, when I first ran for office, I was told I didn’t have the right background or connections to win. Nonetheless, I chose to fight, and together, we defied the odds, and I became Illinois’ first Indian-American Congressman.

Now, I’m choosing to fight again.

Our democracy is under threat, ICE is running rampant, and working families are struggling while MAGA extremists push this country backward.

It has never been more clear why we need a strong Democrat willing to stand up to Trump in the U.S. Senate. And that’s exactly why I’m running.
