SPOTLIGHT

A Holiday Message from Andrew:

As the holiday season continues, I want to extend my warmest wishes to families across Long Island for a happy holiday season, a Happy Hanukkah, and a Merry Christmas. This is a time to reflect on what matters most: spending time with family, giving back to our communities, and looking out for one another. I am truly grateful for the honor of representing Long Island in Congress and for the trust families across NY-02 place in me. I will continue working every day to deliver results for our communities and ensure Long Island remains a safe and strong place to live.”

ANDREW IN THE NEWS

Andrew Discusses Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats at McCrary Institute

This week, Andrew visited the McCrary Institute to discuss the evolving cyber threat landscape and the growing role of artificial intelligence in national security. During the visit, Andrew emphasized that as adversaries increasingly use AI, the United States must also rely on advanced technology to defend critical systems.

As Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Andrew continues working to strengthen America’s cyber defenses and stay ahead of emerging threats.

WHAT'S NEW IN NY-02

Boy Scout Troop 76 Pet Food Drive

Andrew’s team was proud to attend the Boy Scout Troop 76 Pet Food Drive in support of their efforts to help local families and animal shelters care for pets in need during the holiday season.

The Scouts’ commitment to service reflects the strong sense of community that defines Long Island.

Ribbon Cutting at Lost Toys and Comics

This weekend, Andrew's team attended the ribbon-cutting at Lost Toys and Comics, celebrating the opening of a new small business in the community.

Supporting local entrepreneurs remains a priority as small businesses continue to strengthen Long Island’s economy and create jobs.

Casework Highlight: Helping a Constituent Travel for the Holidays

Andrew’s office recently assisted a constituent who urgently needed a passport to meet federal ID requirements for travel. She contacted the office on Wednesday afternoon with plans to travel on Friday. After working quickly with federal agencies, Andrew’s team helped resolve the issue, allowing her to adjust her flight slightly and successfully reach her destination in time for the holidays.

Whether it’s the VA, Social Security, Medicare, the IRS, passports, or other federal services, Andrew’s team is always ready to step in and get answers. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Helping constituents is one of the most important parts of Andrew’s job. Please contact our office and our team will get to work on your case.

KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS

Standing Up for Our Veterans

This week, Andrew reintroduced the bipartisan Veteran Suicide Prevention Act. Too many of our nation’s veterans have been lost to suicide, and every one of those lives is a reminder that more must be done. This legislation would require the VA to take a comprehensive review of the factors contributing to veteran suicide so gaps in care can be identified and lives can be saved.

Keeping Long Island Communities Safe

Earlier this week, Andrew voted for the Kayla Hamilton Act, an important step toward strengthening vetting and protecting communities. As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Andrew remains focused on keeping Long Island families safe and preventing violent crime tied to gang activity.

Honored for Bipartisan Leadership

Andrew was honored this week to accept Center Forward’s Advancing Good Governance Award. Andrew believes good governance means working across the aisle, focusing on solutions, and delivering real results for Long Island.

He remains committed to putting people first and working toward practical outcomes in Congress.

Delivering Results for Homeowners and Small Businesses

Two bills sponsored by Andrew advanced this week in the House Financial Services Committee, marking an important step in the legislative process.

H.R. 5577, the NFIP Extension Act, would keep the National Flood Insurance Program fully operational through Fiscal Year 2026, even during government funding lapses. This is especially important for Long Island homeowners, where flood insurance is often required to secure a mortgage.

H.R. 4130, the Small Business Relief Act, would modernize outdated SEC rules that can force growing private companies into costly public registration. This bill would help Long Island businesses grow without being burdened by unnecessary compliance costs.

Andrew believes Long Island families and small businesses depend on stability and predictability to plan and invest, and these bills address real challenges facing the region.
