The Unveiling of Barbara Johns’ Statue
|
This week, I had the honor of attending the unveiling of Virginia’s newest state statue to be added to the National Statuary Hall Collection. As a teenager, Barbara Johns led a student walkout, protesting separate and unequal education in Virginia, creating a basis for the case of Brown v. Board of Education. What a deeply moving afternoon at the unveiling of the Barbara Johns statue, with hundreds attending, including her family, current and former colleagues representing the Commonwealth of Virginia, to bear witness to the story of her patriotism.
Barbara Johns now rightfully takes her place in the U.S. Capitol, where her statue can currently be found in the Crypt of the Capitol Building. Her courage, leadership, and commitment to justice continue to shape our Commonwealth and our nation. You can read more about her life and legacy here. |

Loudoun County State Legislative Delegation Dinner
|
Last week, I met with the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and my fellow members of the General Assembly for the Loudoun County State Legislative Delegation Dinner. We discussed the most pressing issues impacting our county and how we can work across all levels of government to address them.
Our conversation covered a wide range of topics, including affordability and safety in our communities, the future of data centers, rent stabilization efforts, and homeownership grants. These discussions are an important step toward ensuring Loudoun County continues to grow in a way that is safe, affordable, and sustainable for everyone. |
Building an Affordable Virginia |
Earlier this week, Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger joined Virginia House and Senate leaders to announce their joint ‘Affordable Virginia Agenda’. This agenda focuses on key issues, including housing affordability, healthcare costs, and energy bills that continue to impact households across Virginia. You can read more about her agenda here. As your Delegate, I plan to work diligently on these issues alongside my colleagues in the General Assembly and the incoming Spanberger Administration. Addressing the rising cost of living requires thoughtful, practical solutions, and I am committed to advancing policies that help families stay in their homes, access affordable healthcare, and keep monthly expenses manageable.
This session presents an important opportunity to deliver real relief for Virginians. I look forward to working to ensure that affordability remains at the forefront of our legislative work and that the voices of our community are reflected in the decisions made in Richmond. |
Governor - Elect Spanberger’s Inauguration |
For all those interested in attending Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s Inauguration Ceremony, a ticket lottery is now open to Virginians. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM, outdoors on the South Portico of the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond.
This ceremony will mark the inauguration of the 75th Governor of Virginia and is an opportunity for Virginians from across the Commonwealth to take part in this historic moment. The event is free and open to the public. However, due to limited seating, tickets are required. Virginians who wish to attend can enter the ticket lottery by clicking below. |
Navigating state agencies can be confusing and difficult at times. As the delegate for House District 27, I can help you communicate with state agencies such as the Virginia Employment Commission, Departments of Taxation, Social Services, Transportation and more! I can also submit inquiries with those agencies on your behalf. There are limits to what I can do, however. For example, I am unable to expedite cases or force state agencies to favor your inquiry, provide legal advice or recommend a specific attorney, intervene with judicial issues, overturn decisions, or be involved with matters between private businesses.
Whether you require my office’s assistance, want to bring an issue to my attention or invite me to a community event, please reach out here: https://atoosareaser.com/help/.
Alongside constituent services, I can submit drafts for commending and memorial resolutions. If you know of a person or organization in the district that deserves special recognition, please submit a request here: resolution request form. |
