The Winter Solstice carries a quiet, uncompromising wisdom that speaks less in certainty and explanations and more in mystery and invitations.
In this moment of deepest darkness, when light is most scarce, it does see darkness as a deficit but as a space of pregnant possibility. It teaches us that descent is not failure and endings are not mistakes. Rather, the depth and darkness of winter solstice is the sacred bottom where transformation begins.
It is the womb, the source of all life.
This season reminds us that death is a form of care where what can no longer be sustained is allowed to rest, decompose, and return to the larger cycles of life that include us. It is in this underground, that new life becomes possible. This invites us to respect forms of becoming that do not perform productivity, optimism, or clarity. What is being born may not align with familiar values, language, or timelines. We must become different in order to meet this moment and bring forth the future that we all deserve. Here are some reflections I'm carrying into this portal:
What - in ourselves or in our lives - is ready to die?
What dreams, visions or ways of being want to be realized and brought to life?
What capacity (inner) and conditions (outer) are needed to fully (and bravely) embrace this transformation?
Join me tomorrow, December 21st, for a FREE winter solstice ritual and practice as we live into these questions and move through the darkness together.
