During the War of 1812, in a battle at sea with the British, U.S. Navy Captain James Lawrence was mortally wounded. His crew was carrying him below deck for aid, but before he went down, Lawrence issued a final order: “Tell the men to fire faster — don’t give up the ship.”
This ship is ours. Do not abandon your comrades. Do not abandon your country or the Constitution. Do not give up, no matter the odds.
It’s a legendary rallying cry in the Navy, and in American history. And it’s an especially important one for Mark, a 25 year Navy combat veteran.
And with everything the Trump Administration has thrown at Mark over the last month, it sends a message: Donald Trump’s got the wrong guy if he thinks he can force Mark into silence.
