Yesterday, House Republicans no-showed work. Again.

Earlier this week, a discharge petition hit enough signatures to force a vote on extending the Affordable Care Act subsidies. Speaker Johnson could have called a vote immediately. But then Republicans would have had to go on record voting to double health care premiums and effectively kick millions off of their insurance. So Johnson sent them home for the holidays a day early.

These subsidies are set to expire on January 1st. The House doesn’t come back until the damage is already done.

I’m sick of watching my Republican colleagues make life harder for working families and go to extremes to avoid accountability. Their refusal to act on saving health care will endanger lives.

I won’t give up on this fight. I’ll vote to save these subsidies for the millions that rely on them and will keep working to make health care more affordable for everyone.
