When I first heard about Randy Villegas’s campaign, it reminded me why we started Leaders We Deserve in the first place. Randy grew up in a working-class immigrant family in California’s Central Valley. His parents ran a small auto shop. They relied on Medicaid, food assistance, and public schools to get by. He worked his way from that shop to earning a PhD, and now he’s running for Congress to fight for families like his own. While establishment Republicans like his opponent David Valadao vote to gut Medicaid and hand out tax breaks to billionaires, Randy’s fighting for Medicare for All, affordable housing, and lower costs for families -- and he’s doing it without taking a dime of corporate PAC money. That’s what real leadership looks like. Randy’s not a career politician -- he’s someone who’s lived the struggles he’s fighting to fix. This is exactly the kind of next-generation leader we need in Congress -- someone who knows what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and still believe in a better future. But this race could decide control of the House, and the GOP knows it. That’s why they’re flooding the district with corporate cash. Thanks for stepping up, David Hogg |
