Dear Friend,

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas. I hope you have been able to enjoy this holiday season with family, friends, and loved ones.

One of the most prevalent images displayed during the Christmas season is a manger scene. The image is depicted in the Gospel of Matthew, with Jesus being visited by Wise Men, also known as Magi.

When the Wise Men saw a star appear, they traveled a great distance because they believed something greater was at work. Their journey was not driven by convenience, but by faith. When they found Jesus, they “rejoiced exceedingly with great joy” and worshipped Him, recognizing the hope they were searching for could only be found in Him.

The image of the Wise Men struck me with a simple but powerful reminder this year: we must still seek Him.

This holiday season, I invite you to join me in reflecting on what we are seeking in life. We live in a world that offers status, money, and power as substitutes for hope, yet none of those things can sustain us.

The birth of Jesus reminds us that hope is something we receive, not something we can invent, buy, or wrap to put under a tree. True hope is found in Jesus Christ, our Savior who came into the world to redeem it. Like the Wise Men, we are called to seek Him intentionally, even when the path is uncertain.

Christmas is not only a celebration of Christ’s birth, but an invitation to follow Him. It is an invitation to seek truth over convenience, choose faith over fear, and anchor our lives in a hope that does not fade.

Sincerely,

Gary Palmer

2025 in Review

My staff and I have been hard at work during 2025 to make sure you are represented well. Over the last year, we sent out 31,779 letters responding to your comments and concerns regarding issues and legislation. Additionally, my staff and I had 330 meetings with constituents, businesses, and advocacy groups to ensure that your concerns were heard.

If you are ever in Washington, D.C., please come visit our office! This year, our office gave 153 tours of the Capitol.

In our district office, over 600 constituents were assisted with federal casework issues, including many IRS, passport, veterans, and social security cases.

Our district office staff visited schools throughout the Sixth Congressional District and made presentations about the U.S Constitution to approximately 2600 fifth grade students.

This year marked the first session of the 119th Congress, and my legislative staff and I were hard at work. I cosponsored 104 pieces of legislation and introduced 12, including the bill I introduced to reverse one of the Biden administration’s burdensome regulations that was signed into law. I also introduced legislation to codify five executive orders issued by President Trump to secure America’s supply of critical minerals and a bill to create a new health insurance market that will cover people with preexisting conditions, give people more choice in plans, and require price transparency that we believe will save the average family of four between $6,000 - $9,000 annually.

I have been working with the White House to secure our access to refined rare earth elements from foreign and domestic sources while also working to expedite the construction of processing and refining facilities in the United States. This is a major national security issue. There is not a single major refinery for rare earth elements anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. There are only nine in the world, with eight in China and one in Malaysia. Our dependence on China has put us in an extremely vulnerable position, threatening both our economic security and our national security. That is why I introduced H.R. 6373, the Air Permitting Improvements to Protect National Security Act of 2025, to amend the Clean Air Act to expedite permitting for this critical infrastructure in the United States.

I also participated in 66 committee hearings throughout this year with the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Working alongside Congressional Republicans, the first year of President Trump’s term has been a success for the American people. Under President Biden, energy was unaffordable, our southern border was being invaded, and common sense was nowhere to be found. After just one year, our border is secure, gas is below $3.00 a gallon in 38 states, and legislation and executive actions have been enacted to keep biological men out of women’s sports. The Working Family Tax Cuts Act (also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill) was also passed and signed into law. This bill reduced taxes for American families and senior citizens. This also established the Rural Health Transformation Fund, which is the largest investment in rural health care in modern American history.

Looking Ahead to 2026

2026 will be an incredibly exciting year, as it marks the 250th birthday of our nation. To learn more information about how you can get involved and celebrate, visit America250.org. You can also learn about Alabama-specific events taking place by visiting America250AL.org.

If you are planning on visiting Washington, D.C., in the new year, please contact my office to see how we can assist you! You are also invited to join us at one of our monthly Pastries with Palmer events. Dates for these events can be found here.

As I discussed the accomplishments from this past year earlier in this newsletter, I look forward to continuing to work alongside House Republicans, President Trump, and the Trump administration on behalf of the American people. We will hit the ground running in January to continue to drive down prices and reform our broken health care system. My health care bill will be part of our continuing effort to make health insurance more affordable, as will our efforts to reduce costly and unnecessary regulations that drive up the cost of living.

Representing Alabama’s Sixth Congressional District is a great honor, and I look forward to serving you throughout the next year.
