Dear friends,
What an incredible week!
Just a few days ago, I officially launched my campaign for reelection to the U.S. Senate in 2026. The message behind my decision to run is simple: ensuring that West Virginia continues to have a seat at the table where the most important decisions are made and that the priorities of our people are put first.
If you haven’t seen it yet, I hope you’ll take a moment to watch my campaign announcement video here. It highlights exactly what we are fighting for and the momentum we are carrying into this election.

The response from across the Mountain State has been overwhelming. I want to make certain that West Virginians know the vision behind my campaign, important achievements I have worked hard to deliver for our state, and initiatives I’m hoping to build on as we move into 2026. I had the opportunity to sit down with local reporters to discuss these topics and more, and I encourage you to read the two pieces below that detail how we are positioning West Virginia for the future:
I am incredibly humbled to start this campaign with the support of leaders who know what it takes to fight for our values. We have received powerful endorsements this week from individuals who are standing alongside me throughout this journey:
I recently shared an op-ed in the Wheeling Intelligencer detailing exactly what motivates me to seek another term. Through hard work and a steadfast dedication to our people, I have worked to position myself where I can best serve West Virginia – whether that’s unshackling our energy industry, completing high-priority projects for our communities, spurring economic development, or ensuring our state is connected with high-speed internet. Read my op-ed here or by clicking on the image below:
Everything I do in Washington is driven by my dedication to our state. I pledge to keep working hard every single day to earn your vote and to continue building a brighter future for all West Virginians.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Senator
