The Moore You Know

Welcome to our December newsletter!

This month we were hard at work up in DC and in the district to deliver for the people of Alabama. We celebrated US Space Command coming to Huntsville, passed legislation that helps small businesses thrive, and worked to codify President Trump's agenda.

If you need help from my office with the VA, IRS, or another federal agency, or with a government service like passport processing, please reach out to us. We’ve resolved over 7,300 cases since I took office in 2021. Our values and way of life are under attack, but I promise that I will continue to fight for you, your family, and Alabama’s 1st Congressional District.

Please reach out to my office at barrymoore.house.gov or 202-225-2901 if we can help you or your family in any way and keep reading for the full update. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season filled with family and friends!

Sincerely,

Introducing the Safeguarding US Rulemaking Act

This month, I introduced the Safeguarding U.S. Rulemaking Act, legislation that closes a dangerous loophole allowing foreign adversaries to submit public comments on federal regulations.

For too long, hostile governments like Communist China have inserted themselves into America’s regulatory process. Federal rulemaking should reflect the voices of the American people, not the agendas of adversaries working against our national interests. This bill puts an immediate stop to foreign adversary interference and strengthens the integrity of U.S. policymaking.

Voting in support of the Protect Children's Innocence Act

I voted in favor of H.R. 3492, the Protect Children's Innocence Act to criminalize genital mutilation, chemical castration, and all sex-change procedures performed on children.

This legislation would codify President Trump's executive order on protecting kids from genital mutilation surgeries and holds woke doctors accountable. We must protect our children from this leftist agenda that wants to sexualize and sterilize our kids.

Voting in support of the Kayla Hamilton Act

I voted in support of the Kayla Hamilton Act. This bill aims to enhance federal efforts to combat the trafficking of children by amending the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008.

Kayla Hamilton’s tragic story is a stark reminder of what happens when the government fails to do its most basic job - protect innocent children. The Kayla Hamilton Act closes dangerous loopholes due to the Biden Administration's policies that allowed traffickers, gang members, and illegal aliens to exploit vulnerable children, and it requires background checks, gang screenings, and accountability before a child is placed with a sponsor. This bill puts the safety of children first, plain and simple.

Voting in support of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)

I voted in support of the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which delivers sweeping reforms to strengthen America’s military, restore accountability, and fully advances President Trump’s America First national security policy agenda.

By providing a 3.8% pay raise for our servicemembers and codifying President Trump’s efforts to end left-wing ideology, DEI mandates, and wokeism in the military, the FY26 NDAA is a clear victory for our warfighters, our national defense, and the American people.

Dear Friend,

This week, I voted in favor of H.R. 3492, the Protect Children's Innocence Act to criminalize genital mutilation, chemical castration, and all sex-change procedures performed on children.

This legislation would codify President Trump's executive order on protecting kids from genital mutilation surgeries and holds woke doctors accountable. Congress must protect our children from this leftist agenda that wants to sexualize and sterilize our kids.

The Protect Children's Innocence Act:

  • Criminalizes any attempt to perform or facilitate genital or bodily mutilation or chemical castration on a minor, with up to 10 years in federal prison and/or a significant fine.
  • Bans all puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone treatments for children.
  • Provides no exemption for mental health disorders as justification for these procedures.
  • Defines “chemical castration” and “genital or bodily mutilation” with detailed legal clarity.
  • Exempts children born with certain rare genetic conditions, or who are experiencing medical emergencies as certified by a physician.

Lowering Prices

  • President Trump announced a plan to remove environmental restrictions on tractors. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will work with the Department of Agriculture (USDA) on easing those environmental regulations on agricultural equipment manufacturers. Removing these restrictions will continue to fulfill President Trump's promise when he took office of lowering costs.
  • Gas prices have hit the lowest level in 1,680 days at $3 per gallon in 37 states, below $2.75 per gallon in 22 states, and below $2.50 per gallon in five states.

Securing Our Borders

  • More than 2.5 million illegal aliens have left the United States since President Trump took office.
  • For the past seven months, zero illegal aliens have been released into our country.
  • Illegal border crossings are down to the lowest level since 1970. The U.S. on track to see net negative migration for the first time in at least five decades.

Defending America

  • President Trump signed an Executive Order designating illicit fentanyl and its core precursor chemical as weapons of mass destruction (WMD). This order directs the Attorney General to immediately pursue criminal charges, sentencing enhancements, and sentencing variances in fentanyl trafficking cases.

Strengthening the Economy

  • Since September, the private sector has gained 121,000 jobs, while the federal government has shed 168,000 jobs shrinking the federal bureaucracy.

Celebrating US Space Command in AL

This month, we celebrated the unveiling of the U.S. Space Command sign, which is exactly where it’s meant to be, right here in Alabama at Redstone Arsenal. Thankful for President Trump, Secretary Pete Hegseth, and the Alabama delegation’s commitment to ensuring our military is positioned where they’re most effective, not where it’s politically convenient.

Honoring Sacrifice and Service

Members of my staff attended the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise this month. The New Brockton High School JROTC Color Guard presented the colors. We are proud to honor these men and women alongside Veterans, students, and members of our community.

Alabama’s Role in Strengthening Our Military

This month, members of my staff attended AUSTAL USA 's keel laying ceremony for the first U.S. Coast Guard Heritage-class Offshore Patrol Cutter to be built at the company’s Mobile ship manufacturing facility. I am proud that Alabama is building these cutters that will help ensure the security of our Nation.
