Today is Congressman Jim Clyburn’s 80th birthday!

Jim Clyburn has served South Carolina’s 6th District for the last 27 years and has twice been the House Majority Whip during his time in Congress.

Congressman Clyburn has spent the past 60 years of his life fighting for and advancing the Civil Rights Movement. He was one of the early organizers of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and he also was the president of his NAACP youth chapter at age 12.

Congressman Clyburn is known for saying that his mission is to make America's greatness accessible and affordable for all. With that mission in mind, he now hosts the world famous Jim Clyburn Fish Fry — an event he started to thank supporters who couldn't afford to attend the state Democratic Party's dinner — that every four years becomes a must attend event for presidential candidates.

Now more than ever, we need Jim Clyburn’s decades of wisdom in Congress to help guide us through these difficult times we find ourselves in.

So today, on his 80th birthday, we’re asking you to chip in to Rep. Clyburn’s campaign. We need to make sure that he wins his re-election campaign and is able to serve South Carolina and this country for many more years to come.
